Course Levels (UPPER) INTERMEDIATE
prerequisites: complete knowledge of the singular and plural forms of regular nouns, adjectives and pronouns; knowledge of all verb tenses and verbal aspect as well as the imperative and conditional moods; proficiency that is equivalent to the material covered in approximately the first half of the Communicative Czech - Intermediate textbook
ADVANCED
prerequisites: complete knowledge of declensions of regular and irregular/foreign nouns; mastery of the verbal system including the passive voice; proficiency that is equivalent to the material covered in both of the Communicative Czech textbooks
Schedule flexible - on workdays, mornings and afternoons, as previously agreed
Goals to improve comprehension by listening to/reading and analyzing authentic texts;
to improve the ability to discern relevant information in spoken and/or written texts by MPs or experts and in media broadcasts;
to identify grammatical structures and find synonymic expressions in the texts;
to enlarge vocabulary in fields which are relevant for work within EU institutions;
to understand phraseology, idioms and metaphorical expressions
Topics European Union Policy and European institutions (member countries, candidate countries, EU summits)
economy (common market and currency, social policy, tourism, European Central Bank, health care, agriculture, environmental issues, industry, education, law, Schengen agreement, taxes)
Language Skills phonetic exercises, language structures identification, sentence condensation, text summarization, reading and listening comprehension, complex grammatical and lexical analysis of written and spoken texts
Materials authentic materials such as press releases, newspaper articles, radio and TV news, specialized texts
